I think most moms would claim this as a little victory, but I have to admit I am a little sad. Yesterday, I was a little under the weather with a minor cold, and it sounded as if Rhett might have gotten a dose of it too: not very fussy, not very whiny, just very tired, so he clocked in a longer nap time. I noticed, however, that when I put him down to sleep, he struggled out of my perfect swaddle that he sooo loves (usually). No problem; I unwound him, put him down, and out he went. Second nap of the day, same story- this time he struggled to get out of my arms as I went through my whole pat-him-to-sleep routine. No problem- he is just sick and wants to be left alone. Hardly. Today Rhett has been one happy, healthy, and cuddly little boy- and come nap time, he let out a few yawns, stretched a little, gave his mom a courtesy hug, and out he was. No rocking or patting required. He has done that for all three naps today and I think this trend is going stick around. I did call my mom and Porter with the news, both of whom congratulated me. No thanks. I think this might be the first of many "Does my baby not need me anymore?" realizations to come. sniff sniff.
Here is little Rhett happy as a lark:

Here is Rhett five seconds later, zzzzzzzzz

OH, he is handsome! I love those pics and want to hug him! I know what you mean Peachy...it is sad. There are times when Grady is cuddly and wants me to hold him, but also times when he is practically wrestling me and I know he is tired, then I put him down and in less than 3 seconds he's asleep.
Bless his heart!....and yours! This is just the first of many firsts. It is the way it should be so revel in it!
Happy New Year to you all. I am really enjoying the blog so please keep it up.
Love to you all.
Emily
