Happy Adventing!

We just returned from our Christmas travels to South Carolina where Rhett is still the lonely grandchild (ahem, Tyler and Jackie)-
And still the STAR of the show...

And still so easy to entertain:

Travel and time in airports are often a part of our holidays since we live so far from grandparents. Right before our trip I was reading this Christmas devotional which C.S. Lewis describes the magnitude of God's incarnation. He likened GOD coming in the form of a baby to save us would be like a human being coming in the form of a shellfish. A shellfish? I can't even imagine! For some reason, that really hit me. And as we 'people watched' the vast array of people that exist in airports between flights, it hit me even harder.."You came as a baby to save all of these people, too? Really?"

But now we are home and I am glad to be, because now I get to enjoy my Christmas gift from Porter.

And I am not the only one:

Looking forward to many trips to the coffee house in this, and the shady Handy Andy grocery store downtown where you may or maynot be mugged buying two-week-old produce and suspiciously sour milk, but it's so worth it because the other grocers in town are just way too crowded or hard to get to by bike. Anyway, you get the idea.

Up to lately

A bit of what Los Robinsons have been up to, as seen by Porter's Blackberry
Have you ever walked away from a day and thought, 'that was a perfect day.' That was our Saturday. Last weekend we woke up to no agenda other than spending time together and getting our annual Cowboy Cringle photo taken.

We drove down the road to Gruene just in time to see the Pony Express ride through with the message from the governor welcoming the Christmas season. The three of us loved watching the horses ride through with their cowboys- kind of gave us a sense of pride in our town and in the Christmas season. After the pony express arrived, Gruene's otherwise closed-down post office opens up for two hours so that you can stand in line to get your Christmas cards stamped witht the old Gruene postage stamp. Oh, if only I were that organized.

So, we got some hot cocoa at the coffee shop and did a little shopping at the new toystore- while Rhett was dropping Christmas list hints left and right-
Then it was time for our cheesey Santa photo- my how we've grown!

After some lunch with friends, we came home and rested for our date night. Porter and I went to see the Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis Holiday show at the dance hall. Sure, they sang the same songs, told the same jokes, and recited the same stories as last year,but it was still lovely - as are they.



Oh- and have you heard about our Christmas tree d-r-a-m-a?
Well, a lifetime dream of mine was fulfilled the last week when I got to venture to my first Christmas tree forest (I am from the Rio Grand Valley- ya know). But by the time we got there with Nana in tow (post thanksgiving weekend) the temperature was freezing- the selection was sparse, and I was way too excited to even care.

So while Porter was busy being manly,
Nana busy being granmotherly,
Me, motherly-

And Rhett busy being... well, cute-

A house full of family,

Complete with a certain one-year-old's birthday party, Halloween, and Wurstfest!

Porter's parents drove from South Carolina to celebrate Rhett's special day!

Rhett and his cousin Ellie almost share a birthday (off by one day), so we celebrated her 2nd and his 1st at a joint pumpkin themed party.

I admit, I took the pumpkin theme a little too far and decided relieve the birthday boy of his misery.

Last but not least, Wurstfest! We took Rhett during the day-- this is his 2nd Wurstfest! Yes, shame on me- I took the little guy when he was a wee thing, a few weeks old last year. We always have a great time!
