That is the verse I think of when I see this photo. Porter's Aunt Emily surprised us during my pregnancy with the news that she was going to fly in his grandmother from South Carolina to meet her great-grandson. It was such a nice surprise and treat for us, since she has never been out to our home and probably couldn't have otherwise- and Rhett was going to meet such an important person in his daddy's life. I think it was equally as nice for her...she planted herself in Rhett's rocking chair placed in the living room, fed and rocked him all day long. It was definitely a special time for both of them, and so nice to visit with Aunt Emily as well. We sat around the Christmas tree, did a little shopping, bought Rhett his first Christmas ornament(s), a few books, and were even treated to our first Tree Skirt! Porter and I were also free to run errands and even go on a date! It was great to know that our son was in great hands, and that we could grab a nice dinner, a cheesy Christmas flick at the theatre and top it off with a trip to the wine bar, without preparing a diaper bag, warming a bottle, or checking the clock.
Thanks Aunt Emily, we had a great time!
Later that weekend...
Porter and I thought it would be such a trip to take Rhett to pose with this guy:

"Cowboy Kringle" down in Gruene (only in Texas). He does this Christmas picture gig every year, and we were excited to finally participate....that is until we learned upon arrival that we were #20 in line amongst screaming kids, some terrified of Jolly St. Nick (who knew?)...
... So we killed some time at the dance hall where Rhett and I took to two-stepping , while father and son preferred toe-tapping...
Finally, it was our turn....ah our first experience of pictures with Santa. Never realized how competitive I could be until I found myself almost interrupting the cute little kid in front of us, spilling her guts about her wish list to Santa so that my child could get a snapshot while he was conscious and smiling... But after a failed attempt of Rhett flying solo in the Christmas portrait, Mom and Dad were summoned by the photographer to jump in (aw, twist our arms) and try to get the little guy to at least pretend to be interested.... So here it is:
"Hallelujah everybody say CHEESE: Merry Christmas from the FAM-U-LY..."
