C.C.F. 2009

Co-mal County Fair!

New Braunfels' finest came out for the fair festivities- and Los Robinsons were no exception. Our first fair with little Rhetty! I just read my journal entry from this time last year- complaining about how I was stuck at home pregnant, and as big-as-a-house while Porter was selling fried Oreos and sausage-on-a-stick for the Lions club at the Fair. What a difference a year makes!

This time, I am eating the sausage on the stick- with baby on my hip- and the Lion's Club is now selling chocolate fried BACON. Uh huh, New Braunfels' finest.

Those lushes-
Here we are at the Fair Parade downtown.

I promise the only 2 times I saw Rhett clap during the whole parade was when this barage of tractors came through...

And when these ladies strolled by. No lie.

I thought this driver was so cute with his ear plugs in... or maybe it's an ipod?
Trying to get a group shot with the little ones-- not happening. But thanks Landon for smiling! Can you tell I was counting on cooler weather?
My gal pal Holley and I- moms taking shelter in the shade!
Everytime a float like this rolled by with the duchess of something or princess of whatever on it... Holley and I talked about how glad we were to have little boys. The pressure!
Saturday, we got up early- just so we didn't miss the tractor pull (turns out it was an all-day event). But Rhett didn't mind that nor the heat, he was hooked!

Then he got a shot of his own...

Our buddy Jack...Poor baby was so tuckered out by the end of the morning, he wanted nothing to do with the petting zoo.
And who knew there were a thousand different ways to win a ribbon at the county fair? You can brew your own beer, Make your own wine, Bake cute cookies, Or grow a nice looking watermelon? There was even a blue ribbon on some HAY! For all of you who grew up on ranches, I am sure you may understand why.. but HAY?!?!

And alas, we lasted about 5 minutes at the Rodeo. Rhett was more interested in pulling the hair of the tweens sitting in front of us and making eyes at the grandmothers behind us. I got flashbacks of what it was like trying to contain him on our airplane trips, and we were on our way home. All in all we had a great time with our little guy. I would say that our short stint at the rodeo and having to pass on the carnival rides was well worth the all the tractors and animals- and the look it brought to his little face!
