New Year's Resolution: Keep Blogging!

Thought I would start this neglected post with the neglected member of family. Poor Sam. My kids are growing at the speed of light right before my eyes. Porter put Nina Lane in our "bumbo" chair the other night and she sat right up. Sigh. She knows her mama, is keen of her dadda, but really has eyes for her brother.
And believe me, the feeling is mutual.
In other news, I thought I would share that I have taken up another hobby: sewing. As if I don't have enough going on, but these days I regret making fun of all those gals that took home ec. in high school. Not only was it probably an easy A, but I would be sitting here staring at this brand new sewing machine my mom left at my house. Anyway, I've gotten as far as plugging in the machine, a tuturiol from a gracious friend, and a few stiches down a Valentine Sofa pillow I dreamed up. And really, only the cholas took Home Economics. You should have seen my highschool. I would have gotten beat up in there. Do you even know what cholas are?
But, as promised here is a run down of where I left off- our holiday happenings (while it's still January)

Thanksgiving week we were home home home. Just the four of us. This was due to a double ear infectiong (Rhett), a first runny nose (Nina) and an unwillingness to travel beyond the confounds of our driveway (Porter and I). Acutally, I take that back, Thanksgiving night, we had our 'feast' at the Menger Hotel on the river in San Antonio. We loaded the kids in our Sunday Best and told them we were going to 'the city' for dinner. Rhett was sooo excited to see real "sky-skray-kers" and asked about a million times if Bob the builder was working.

Right after we took this picture in front of the Menger Hotel Tree, Rhett ran to the Santa Claus display and whispered into the ear of the 3ft. tall Santa, "Santa, I want a basketball and train tracks!")
The meal was nice, and our little adventure to the city was too, but we definetely missed our families, watching the parade, the leftovers, and slamming high fives at the football games on t.v. (I tried to seem interested..). But I will say Thanksgiving morning was the best. We woke up at the wee hours of the morning and borrowed a double jogging stroller and ran as a family the Gruene 5k Turkey Trot. It was a blast. Not that I "blasted" through the course, I am pretty sure I saw the numbers 4 and 0 when I ran under the timer, but hey, my first run since the baby was born :) But the weather was so pleasant, Porter was pushing both kiddos, passed me up halfway through it and about a dozen other dads (go P!) and was cheering me as I crossed the finish line. Porter says as long as we are in town on Turkey Day, we will always be running the Turkey Trot.

Christmas was actually in our own home this year and I must say- I think it was a hit. It was nice not to fight airport lines in overstuffed suitcases. We did miss the extended Robinson side of our family, but hope through this post convinces them to battle those travel demons and come here next year:)
Warning: The Christmas pictures are sparse and out of order- hard mananing the home, playing hostess and taking some snapshots- but wallah! (Rhett was the "black sheep" of the Christmas pageant. We are hoping his performance will get him promoted next year...)

The Christmas living room aftermath. I always love these scenes.
Hey Rhett: looks like Santa delivered!
I seem to remember Rhett's first Christmas- he got a book. My, things change.

First time cooking the Christmas meal, the pressure!

Es todo!
