Please Pray !

Earlier this weekend I completed a "catch-up" blog post when Porter and I got news of a terrible accident. Porter's cousin, Adam, had a terrible fall this weekend and is suffering from head and neck injuries and broken bones. He is in critical need of his brain to stop swelling- and his family is in critical need of your prayers. So before I post the update below, please, please take a minute and pray for Adam Cox.
And please say a special prayer for his mamma (Aunt Emily, below) and Dad. They need support more than ever. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

JUNE 2010
The other day Porter and I were with Rhett in the backyard watching him play in his Texas flag- clad swimming pool. All of a sudden he pointed to a star on the pool and said "Staaarrrr." (!) I looked at Porter, "Did you teach him that? Because I didn't." Porter didn't take the credit... My mind started racing: Did he learn something on his own... apart from Moi? Who taught him this? Did he see this on sesame street? We don't have any encylopedias in the house, he must have researched this on the internet! Or maybe he's just brilliant. Like a star:) Or like his Dad-
Rhett-head is just growing leaps and bounds-- words are spilling out of his mouth, the way he pulls together phrases like "Think-you Muh-muh," new gestures, funny mannerisms like stomping his right foot and clapping his hands when "mis-sick" is playing, and his appetite-- the doctor said at his 18 month check up that he had grown 5 inches in 6 months! No wonder he is eating us out of house and home. This summer has brought the usual heat wave, but I love it. I heart summer. Maybe it's because I grew up on the tip of Texas where there are 2 seasons: Hot Weather, and Not-so-hot weather. Nonetheless, we are spending much more time outside. Leave it to my fellow South-Texans (Auntie Kate, Cousin Ellie, Uncle Cheo and crew) to love it as much as me: (Can you tell that my sister Kate is trying to keep it together for the camera in this pic as she is holding her mouth closed...early stages of pregnancy, poor girl) The Summer sun has also transformed our little red-head to a beach blonde, check out this blonde mess- We miss our cousin Ellie, and the mess that ensues when they are together And yes, we need to remind them that they are cousins. Porter recently pulled a little band together and they got to play at our farmer's market. It was a hit!

I am actually sad that it is over because I miss listening to him practice after we put Rhett down to sleep. I think he can be kind of dreamy when he plays. Oooh, a picture of me..and twenty something weeks! It's hard to imagine that we are going to be a family of four in a matter of weeks. And sometimes I am afraid (in fact I know) that we have no idea how blessed we are-espcially with our new baby girl waiting to make her debut. Although I have heard that you don't know what it's like to reaally be a mother until you have two, I am getting more excited about welcoming our daughter in September. It just feels so surreal to say that.

Well, since I have been MIA this Spring according to this blog: here is a run down of what we were up to this the past couple months- which officially makes this the longest blog post ever..but I owe it to ya.

SPRING 2010

I had to include this picture of Rhett's outfit. Some ladies at church started to comment on the otufit that Rhett's mother must have sewn for him. I kind of didn't correct them.. :)

We have had a ton going on this late spring. I took a quick trip to NYC to visit my bff from home, and meet her now fiance. We had a small Easter celebration in New Braunfels in which Rhett discovered jelly beans and his first taste of CANDY! Porter and Rhett braved their first father/son camp out with some friends, through tornado warnings and rainstorms.

We've done more work on the Robinson ranch, spending lots of time with friends and eachother. And watching my baby belly grow. Rhett is "talking" now. As in..jibber jabber. It is the cutest though. He can string a few 2, maybe 3 word phrases together, mainly when he wants something..("more crackers?", "thank you trash truck!") but for the most part we get a lot of jibber jabber followed by an actual word. For example: "aboga-jya-jya-wadel-menchuck-juice please!"

I will admit that I have become a little redundant in my request that his first phrases at least include some manners, often driving home a lot of "Rhett, say please...","Say thank-you Rhett...", "Yes mam?" So, the other day- I was carrying a slew of folded laundry to our bedroom and Rhett decided that it would be helpful if he would chunk the unused hangers in our closet behind me. After he was done he proudly clapped his hands, said "Yay Rhett" and with a stern face looked at me and said, "Say thank-you Momma!" HA!Weekend getaway to NYC with the girls!

We had our first visitors for the year: The Bayer family came out from Ohio to pay The Robinsons a visit. Lidnsey and I were sorority sisters and pals- we had a great weekend- espeically since our kiddos are just weeks apart and our #2's will be only days apart!

A Clemson girl reunion at Sarah Andreson's river house:

Gotta love the bathtime shot:

The boys found themselves at the dance hall bar with babies in hand. This was not a posed scene- I just asked them to turn around and smile- what a hoot!

It was so nice to have a sitter and be able to float the river sans children. But we then wrangled everyone up for our first trip of the season to Schlitterbaun!

Spring brought in some Aunts and Uncles for Rhett - Uncle Tommy & his new Aunt Monica...

Aunt Emily on her way out of state for her summer internship. Sometimes I catch Rhett picking up his play phone and saying "Hello Emememe"

Big Development: Rhett discovering ketsup. LOVES it on ANY and EVERY thing. I just love that it can coat whatever he would otherwise refuse to eat :)

Porter and Rhett ventured out for their first Father/Son campout with some of our friends. It was the ultimate dump-camp experience according to Porter. Just look at the truck bed...pack and play, highchair, a borrowed tent the size of the Taj Majal. (All photos courtesy of the dads..)
On the way out to the campgrounds. Not off on the best start...

Obviously there were no mothers on this trip...

Porter and Ian on the river with the boys... I was sad I missed Rhett's first experience floating down the river (in a lifejacket, on porter's lap).. but still

Rhett directing our spring gardening. A lolly pop in one hand and pointing his finger with the other..

Rhett was in his first parade! The whole line up was made up of a bunch of toddlers and the middle school marching band while Rhett's float consisted of him in his old halloween costume with porter pulling him in his wagon- but a great memory at that :)

Easter Sunday: Of course we were excited to celebrate Christ rising-- and also our discovery of this little sear-sucker suit. Porter pulls his out one time a year, and he was so excited to have a mini me. He and his little girlfriend Camdyn looked too adorable.

Rhett stopped 10 seconds into the Church easter egg hunt and realized there was actually candy in those plastic eggs. The child was on the biggest sugar high eating a fist full of jelly beans: first experience with real candy! There is no going back :(

Easter bunny brought us some new matchbox cars and our first set of crayons!

The Digby Duo: Rhett and his two buddies Jack and Luke are more like brothers. Porter and I resorted to putting on a CARS the movie to contain them on a recent babysitting night at our house.

They are wild together!

As you can tell, we spend a LOT of time in backyard pool.

That's a wrap! We'll stay POSTED!
